An Audience with Dr Isha - Session 6

This is an open meeting and an opportunity for individuals in the helping professions to discuss chapters of my book. A Black Empathic Approach to Psychotherapy: Growing from Rage to Compassion.

This chapter offers insight and reflection on turning defensiveness into compassion. This is a fundamental element in the presentation of a black Empathic Approach. The personal elements of this dilemma are expressed in an interview with Anne, who spoke freely about her experiences of internalised racism. 

Having worked with statutory and voluntary organisations on change regarding institutional racism, it has become clear where the power for change lies. Investment to break down the impact of white privilege must be seen as a priority in systemic change. This is fundamental to class systems that maintain poverty, ignorance and inadequate pathways to environmental and human involvement in the manifestation of cultural confidence.
