This is an online open meeting to discuss: A BLACK EMPATHIC APPROACH TO PSYCHOTHERAPY- GROWING FROM RAGE TO COMPASSION. Dr Isha Mckenzie-Mavinga. 


Stories about anti-black racism suggest a tipping point for mental ill health and trauma. Attention on this state comes from observing this impact as an intersecting oppression on the mind and body. This discussion asks the question: Can mental Health support include an awareness and attention to healing trauma exacerbated by anti-Black racism? 

 

Acting bizarrely and out of the usual way of being, can mean that an individual is beyond reason and unable to recognise what they are doing or presenting. This is often viewed as a concerning state of mental health. Sometimes individuals benefit from rest and a quiet means of recovery. A familiar space to still the mind and reclaim physical and emotional balance.
